What is STEM?

STEM is a curriculum that focuses on integrating the four pillars of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics throughout all aspects of a child’s education. This approach can provide the child with a more cohesive well-rounded education with a multitude of practical applications.

Through exploration, discovery, and collaboration, students using STEM curriculum learn by applying and utilizing numerous concepts to solve complex problems rooted in real-life situations. Various individual and collaborative activities designed to be fun while fostering creativity, critical-thinking and problem solving skills are made available to all students at all levels to allow for learning in a less traditional environment.

Benefits of STEM

STEM programs can enhance the abilities of all students involved by requiring innovative thinking. This type of curriculum teaches students to work both independently and collaboratively to not just find the answers in a book but to get your hands dirty and find out what the answers mean and how they can be applied in the real-world.

A STEM education program inevitably creates thinkers and doers. By learning through exploration and discovery students become active not passive learners. These active and collaborative learning skills will be critical to the success of these students when they leave the classroom and enter the real world.
